Allen was born and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee and was the only child of James Dudley Correll and Margaret Ruth Taylor.
He moved to Texas at age 18 where he graduated from Texas A&M University in 1966. He met and married the love of his life Brenda Sue Allen of Houston, TX and became the father of their only child, daughter Kara, in 1971. He began a life long career in the Scrap Iron and Steel industry in 1976. Allen spent the last 12 years of his career at Pacific Coast Recycling in California, where he retired as the C.O.O. in July of 2008. Upon retiring, he and Brenda relocated back to Houston to be close to their family.
Allen is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Brenda; his daughter, Kara Montgomery and husband Dan Montgomery Jr.; grandsons: James Ford Montgomery and Gus Hodges Montgomery; mother-in-law, Patricia M. Parkin; and sister-in-law, Laurice Ann Parkin of Austin.
Allen was an Eagle Scout, lover of the water, golfer, avid reader, Houston Rockets fan and Aggie through and through.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful and proud grandfather and loyal friend who will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 18th of February, in the Chapel of The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent parlor.
Serving as honorary pallbearers during the services are Ray Harris, Monty Parker, Bill Proler, Rick Van, and Steve Weiner.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Allen Correll may be directed to the American Heart Association - Houston Chapter, 10060 Buffalo Spdwy., Houston, TX, 77054; or to the American Diabetes Association, 2400 Augusta Dr., Suite 175, Houston, TX, 77057.
