He was preceded in death by parents Roy Lawrence and Mayme Anderson of Hutto, sister Mary Jane Hopkins of Lakeway, and wife Judith Murraylin Anderson of Houston. He is survived by children, Amy Leigh Schlaffer, wife of Joseph Schlaffer ,Melisa Anne Johnson, wife of Gary Johnson, Roy Murray Anderson, husband of Gay Anderson, Leslie Marie Avioli, wife of Jim Avioli Jr. ; his former wife, Margaret Arenas; grandchildren, Roy Clayton and Eric Allen Anderson, Lindsey Marie Goulden, wife of James Goulden, Justin Paul and Mark Lawrence Avioli, Kelsey Leigh Johnson, and Maxwell Joseph Schlaffer; love of the last eight years, Jo Doris Neath; and numerous nieces.
Morgan graduated from Hutto High School in 1949. He was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M and graduated in 1953 with a BS in Food Technology. He later earned an MBA from the University of Houston. After serving four years in Germany as a fixed-wing pilot for the U.S. Army, he returned to Sherman, TX to begin his career in the food industry. He also served in the National Guard and Army Reserve, retiring as a Captain. He moved to Houston in 1959 and worked at Coca-Cola Foods as Director of Quality Assurance until retiring in 1985. He then went to work with wife Judy at Dataware until he sold the company in 2012. He enjoyed traveling, sailing, flying, painting, and reading. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire. Though he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, he is now at peace and with our Lord.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 16th of June in the drawing room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A memorial service will be conducted at half-past eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 17th of June at Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Boulevard in Houston, with Rev. Kerry Nelson, Senior Pastor officiating.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the service.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
