Ross Greco Jr. was born the 21st of February 1922, in Houston and went home to be with his Lord on the 26th of January 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Dia Greco and his sister, Rose Greco Ditta. Ross attended Annunciation Catholic School and St. Thomas High School. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the school’s current location on Shepherd and Memorial.
Ross served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return home he married the love of his life, Annette Cunzalo Greco who survives him after 70 years of marriage. Every day of their 70 years together he told her he loved her until he spoke his last words. Also surviving Ross are his daughters, the other loves of his life, Diane DiPuma and husband Frank, Margaret Bannon and husband John, Theresa Stewart and husband Don and Rosalyn Ingenthron and husband Doug. His Grandchildren Frank DiPuma, Jr. and wife Gina, Gina DiPuma Plake and husband Steven, Kimberly Fricke Gattis and husband Eric, Phillip Bannon, Donn and Michael Stewart, Blake, Camille and Christopher Ingenthron, and his great grandchildren, Emily and Carly DiPuma , Brianna and Andrew Plake and Allison Gattis. This was Ross’s family that he adored, honored and loved every day of his life and they loved him in abundance in return. As much as he loved his family he loved his God above all and was a good and faithful servant until the end.
After his return from service Ross worked as a welder and eventually went into the grocery business with his brother-in-law Frank Pizalate. Together they owned G & P Lucky Seven until his retirement in 1982. During his years in the grocery business he served as President of both the Retail Grocers Association and the Lucky Seven Stores. After retirement he worked tirelessly for the organizations he held near and dear to his heart, The Sacred Heart Society of Little York and The Italian Cultural and Community Center. He served as a Board of Director for both these organizations. While serving on the ICCC board he worked closely with its founder Tannie Trapolino on the purchase of the property now known as the Italian Cultural Center. In 1995 he was honored with the distinction of Man of the Year by the Sacred Heart Society of Little York. He was a proud Italian who loved and cherished his Italian heritage. This love he passed on to his daughters who have and will always carry on in his honor.
