Rosie Barrera

Rosie Barrera, 73, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 23, 2023. Rosie was born on January 28, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to the late Angelita Martinez and Rosario Moreno.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Seferino G. Barrera Jr., her son, Eric Michael Barrera, and her brother, David Martinez, including her parents.

Rosie worked for Texas Children’s Hospital for over 30 years as a dedicated and helpful employee. She was an active member of March of Dimes and an avid supporter of the March for Babies, fighting for the health of all moms and babies. Driven by her passion for helping others, she participated in many fundraising walks.

In her retirement, Rosie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Rosie also enjoyed traveling. Her wanderlust and curiosity led her to explore new places and cultures, learning something new from every journey. Her kind and compassionate heart, coupled with her infectious sense of humor, made her a joy to be around. Rosie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rosie is survived by her son, Adam Paul Barrera, and grandchildren, Samantha Rose Barrera, Ericka Michelle Barrera, Lucas Adam Barrera and Ben Eric Barrera.

Visitation will be Friday, October 6th, 2023, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Celebration of Life will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M on October 7th, 2023, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
