Hi im Rosa idalia Lopez hurtado and I meet in Compton california .  America Melendez.  rest in peace I didnt know that her middle name was idalia but anyways rest in peace America Melendez.

Rosa was my manager at the Greensheet for 11 years. I have never met such a compassionate, kind, loving person. She basically saved my life by giving me my first job in my career. I owe her so much, she influenced my life so much and even after i left green sheet, she was always there for me to give me any kind of advice I needed. She was my friend/mentor/guide. The last time I spoke with her she told me how proud she was of me, I will always hold that in my heart. I will always have you in my heart Rosa, I love you friend. 

I am having a hard time gathering my thoughts as the loss of our beloved Rosa has come as such a blow for all who love her. She added a special light to so many lives. 

Working for The Greensheet was the best job I ever had and that was because of my coworkers. Rosa didn't just direct our department, she lead us. No one worked harder than she did. Her example to all of us was, when times got rough, put a smile on your face and get the job done.

I usually took my dinner break right after Rosa. She always verbalized her appreciativeness for her dinner and the blessings in her day. In my life, certain phrases sprinkle my inner monolog in the voice of the person who best expressed an idea or feeling.  Now, in my head, when I think "Thank you, Lord" I hear Rosa. She is the voice over to my gratitude for the best things in life.

She taught me not to dwell on disappointment. Not to feel so sorry for myself. I learned so much more from her. I could never thank her enough. I am older, but she was the grown-up. 

As the designated goofus in almost any group, I am grateful that I could make Rosa laugh even while she shook her head at my silliness. She brought out the best in most  everyone whose life she touched.

I worked with Rosa and she was a real pro. We were about the same age and like me, she worked in the publishing business all of her life and that made working with her a joy. She knew so much and knew how to do just about anything. We could get together and figure out the week's challenges, big and small. As a manager, she was organized and on-point. I knew if Rosa was there, things would get done. One day she came in to my office before her evening shift and brought me a slice of Mexican cornbread. She said, "I heard you mention you like cornbread and I made some last night." That cornbread was so good. That was three years ago and I still talk about that cornbread. A very fine person and I miss her a lot.



I will always be grateful for Rosa’s loving friendship with my mom, whom she affectionately called her “Dalilita”. They met each other over 30 years ago, at a time when both needed an understanding ear and light-hearted companionship. We all considered Rosa family, and when Daniel came along we welcomed him as family, too. Rosa and Daniel sponsored my grand-daughter’s cake for her Quince’, and she was instrumental in my eldest daughter working at Greensheet, and they also shared the same birth month and day. Rosa will always be in our hearts; she was so cheerful and bubbly, you couldn’t help but feel happy when she was around. We miss her laugh and her love.

Even though we had been Sisters in Christ for years, we got close in either Dec 2020 or Jan 2021. Rosa brought my family a meal because we had COVID and we bonded over that meal. It was one that brought back fond childhood memories. It was a "go-to" meal that my mom would make for us.  Crazy how it tasted just like Mama's. I enjoyed it over 3 days :)  From that point on we were fast friends. When she became ill, my heart broke for her.  She fought hard with much support from her family. We talked and cried on the phone wondering why we came into each other's lives so late. But we both knew God knows best and we cherished our friendship until the bittersweet end.  Though we all miss and love her, we take solace in the fact that nothing on this earth can hurt her anymore.

My beautiful friend. Your were more than just my friend you were my family. My sister I would talk to about every little thing. Your heart was so big and so kind to everyone you came into contact with. I will think of you always and will never forget the memories that I will hold dear in my heart. I was oh so lucky to have had you in my life. Your laughter is what I will miss most of all. Our phone calls on your drive home from work just catch up on how our week was going. I will miss your welcoming spirit and how we missed each other if we had not seen each other in a few weeks. Although our lord has called you and Mrs. Pena home I know I will see you again in our eternal home . Love you and miss you my Amiga, Rachel 


 Before being Daniel’s partner in crime Rosa was mine. I have known Rosa since Jr. High school and oh what a ride it has been.  Oh the memories I have of us going out with Rachel, Lucy, etc.  I would pick her up from work on a Friday or Saturday night to go clubbing and then racing her back home for her to make curfew. It seems so long ago but in reality it really isn’t.  We wanted so much more time to make more memories together.  We had made plans for the future to celebrate her kicking cancer’s ass but God had other plans.  We all are lucky to have had her in our lives.  She was a great friend to all.  I will miss talking to her .. I will cherish the voicemails and text messages I have.  I’m still numb and in disbelief.  Rosa you were loved by all around you.. to know you are no longer suffering brings me great peace.. I love you my bestie!

Will miss you my friend. So many memories from high school and beyond. RIP Rosa 🙏 

My Rosita,

We met when we were 11 years old and we became fast friends. I have so many great memories of sleep overs, laughing and talking until the sun came up ( or until your Mom came into your room and told us to be quiet and go to sleep)! Going through all of our firsts together.  First boyfriends, first  time driving, first cars, first jobs, first everything! We shared so many laughs, long talks, meals, good times, bad times, and even some disagreements but through it all we had love for each other and we made a lifetime of memories together.  

You are the only person that knows everything about me. You are always on my mind and will always be in  my heart.  I will always remember your love for your friends and family, especially your Mom. Your strength, kindness and faith in God was a constant in your life.  And you lived a full life!

If only I could have you back for just a little while so we could sit and talk again like we used to.  We needed to have one last talk and that will always be my biggest regret. Every time I think about you , I can’t hold back my tears and my throat hurts. 

You always meant so very much to me. The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain. It was a gift to know you. 

Heaven got another angel the morning you left this world behind. I know you are in eternal peace now and that makes me feel a little bit better.

My Beautiful Rosa. So many wonderful memories from our tailgate crazy days to fun times at the River in New Braunfels. Thank you for being an amazing friend & the kindest most loving person. The Zermeno's love you forever. Rest in Heaven & May our Father God bring comfort to all those that love you dearly. 

We will truly miss our friend Rosa. We were lucky enough to spend a few vacations, celebrations, Texan games and many dinners with her and Daniel. Rosa will be in our hearts and prayers forever. We love you Rosa.  Daniel we are always here for you.

Rosa’s kindness, compassion and comforting nature was always a positive guide for me. She made me laugh, gave me strength, encouragement and pushed me to work harder and stay confident in my abilities and self. While I didn’t get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked to, she will remain an everlasting friend and spirit to me. 

Rosa was much more than any words could say. She was a boss, mentor, and friend. Even that sounds less than...

She called me her Laurita and always joked that she could be my mother. The joke being she would have to have been 16 to make that possible. She always giggled the hardest at that back and forth.

We would laugh together often and usually that was how we got through some tough nights together at work. Nothing felt better than solving a problem with her, navigating through something new and conquering. She was always pushing to be the best she could be. And in turn, expected the best of those who worked for and with her. 

She became a mentor to me somewhere along our 15 years together.  I can't think of anyone else I would be prouder to emulate in my life and career.  Her ability to lead with confidence and compassion is unmatched.  She truly cared for those she hired and wanted us all to succeed, helping everyone along the way.

She was much more than her work. I know she tirelessly cared for her family, friends, and her church beyond anything. Her energy was always through the roof! All fueled by her deep and undying love for her husband and family. There was never a doubt why she worked so hard, it was always for them. My heart goes to them now, I can only imagine the loss they will be feeling. 

She was a bright light, a firecracker, exciting and fun! I will remember that Rosa. My friend. My motivator. My boss. And try to be just a little like her in my own life.
