I am very sad to learn of Rory’s passing. I knew something was up when his cell went to voice mail on the first ring. Over many years Rory always returned calls as soon as time allowed, demonstrating a sincere courtesy that is becoming rare among today’s human beings. He was a dedicated collector, primarily of game-used equipment. He dealt me some of his best stuff used by people like Bagwell and Biggio. He backed up authenticity with detailed stories and great tributes to the players, whether stars or .220 hitters. Rory found the best, worthiest attibutes of everyone he encountered. This means that being around him was fun and always memorable. He made clear his loves. Second was the Astros but first and foremost was his family. He loved his girls with all his heart. They always came first. Now, the Astros – he stayed with them through long years of thin and celebrated like no one else during the “thick” times. He indeed made it a point to check on older folks like me, wishing pahhy Father’s Day and expressing his best wishes for general health and well being. May this great individual rest in God’s peace!

It is no secret my dads health had been a battle for a while now, he truly fought very hard till the very end and I am so proud of his strength. 
He is now at peace and not suffering, he’s not in a hospital and he’s able to rest. We know he is with his parents, his 3 brothers and our mother.  We truly had hope he would come home and this was unfortunately unexpected however, I am grateful for the time I had with him, being there to help him and see him through this journey was a gift I’ll forever cherish. 

I appreciate all the love me, my sister and his two granddaughters have received through this. Our dad was all we had. He was everyone’s friend, he loved his girls, was the biggest sports fan, loved his nascar races, loved the astros, the oilers,  his city, his job, his kruez barbecue, and everything else in between. I can still see him sitting in the Minute Maid park eating peanuts and watching the Astros play. He didn’t care if they won or lost. He just wanted to be there to watch and support his team. 
He was our biggest supporter and showed up for us always. It didn’t matter if we were wrong, it didn’t matter if he didn’t agree with us, he was always on board and showed up for us no matter what. His loyalty is something I will carry forever. 

We are so grateful for all of his nurses and doctors that worked to help him. He was truly liked by all the staff that came in contact with him. I will never forget their kindness and how they all told me he was their nicest patient and he was their friend. They tried so hard for him. 

We have decided to keep this a private matter and will not be having a service. We’d love to read your favorite memory with him or see any pictures you may have to share here.

Rory was good man, with nothing but a positive attitude, he was a family man, who was proud them and loved them, his grandchildren brought him  joy . He aways asked about my family 
I worked with Rory while I was in Houston but I often bent his ear for advice as I moved on, as we still worked for the same company. 
He will be missed

Sorry for the loss of Rory. I became  his friend  thru Davis high school alumni page on Facebook sevalnyears ago. In 1974 I was Rory’s teacher at Marshall Mddle school.  Rory sent me a copy o f his
Report caard telling me how I had been one of his favorite teachers.  He  spoke so  many kind words that lifted my spirit . It was my first year of teaching and I was 21 years old.  I I am 72 years old, retiree, and he  only had words 
Of praise.  I knew the love that he shared for
His famly.y by reading  his posts.  I knew he was a man  of fGod. He had been heavy in my heart all this week and I prayed .  What an honor to have been his 7th grade typing teacher.

I was so sorry to hear of Rory’s passing.  He had a great passion for the Astrodome, the Houston Oilers and Houston Astros. On those he was a wealth of knowledge, and moreover he was a great guy and I will always appreciate and miss the conversations and the connection we had for Houston sports teams and the Dome. More importantly he was a man of Faith, and I know that we will see him again one day. My deepest condolences to his family and closest of friends at this time. May God be with you.

My dear brother and BEST friend, words cannot express how blessed I've been since I met you and you've been a part of my life since Middle School at Marshall. Thank you for "being there", anytime we got together, we had so much fun and shared the the same interests, Thanks for riding along with me on many nights when i was on Nights, and thanks to Sophie for allowing you to spend time with me.  You cared so much for my family.  I wish we could have grown even older together and had more memorable moments. I'm so glad we had a good long conversation in early days of April, and you never gave up with your strong Faith and beautiful "girls" whom were your life. Rest in peace and save me a front row seat as I will join you someday. As always, Love you and your family.

Brother Rory, I am deeply saddened to learn of your passing. I never imagined our chat on 4-2-24 would be the last time we talked. I am going to miss our chats about the Astros, Oilers and baseball bats. You were always so kind sharing your opinions and advise. We met long ago at the Astrodome and I will always treasure our younger days chasing players for autographs and trying to get broken bats at the dome. I know how much you loved your family, your daughters and granddaughters. I thank you for always being an amazing friend after all these years. You will be missed by many! RIP brother! I know you were in pain and suffering. God must have needed another Angel in heaven. Offering my prayers to the family. 🙏🏻 I am so blessed to have met you and Jordan so long ago. I had the honor & pleasure to work with Rory over 5 years.  He was a true pleasure to work-with in the field and a great friend after hours as well.   Rory was always supportive of his fellow team mates and eager to finish his work in a professional manner.   His routed stores were consistently featured in our monthly reporting because of his outstanding accomplishments.  Store personnel all knew Rory and he was a "friend" to all!  I am truly going to miss Rory and his smiling face, even though I have moved to another position in the company, Rory & I have remained in contact.  His love & passion for his family will always be in my memories, as he was always so proud of his role as both Father & Grandpa to his children, which was truly inspiring!  Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!
