Roosevelt Powell was born on November 24, 1945 to Albert Sr. and Exie Lee Powell. He was a native Houstonian but the Cuney Homes were his stomping grounds where he made a name for himself (Big Smooth). Roosevelt worked at Metropolitan Transit Authority for over twenty years. On September 28, 2013 Roosevelt departed his earthly home to his heavenly home. Roosevelt was always a loving father to his four girls, grandfather and the life of the party. All those who knew him knew he enjoyed his life and lived it to the fullest. We can all hear him saying "I've lived my life, don't worry about me." We can honestly say that he did it his way until the end and will smile when we think of his sayings "what's a never", "fella" and "yes-a- boss". Roosevelt was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Jean Powell, his siblings: Clara Lee, Maybelle Lovette, Milton Sr., Albert Jr., and Donald Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Joyce Ibe (Charles), Gwennetta Jones (Jon), Tonya Jones and Kenya Green (Jason), treasured grandchildren Ma'lai Gobert, Percy Jones (PR), Chanzs Martin, Alexandria Mills, Ola'Tunde Idowu, Victoria Onyejekwe, Dexter Williams, Timothy Williams Jr. (TJ), Kre'vianyna Williams, Kre'von Williams, Jaaron Henderson and Joshua Ibe, his brothers and sisters, Clayton (Lillian) Powell, James Powell, Robert Smith, Polly Ann Gentry (James), Lucy Chenualt (Larry) and Mildred Obies, his brother in-laws Floyd Eubanks (Ivy), Lloyd Eubanks (Edna) and Robert Eubanks, and god-children: Michael Baldwin, Daunita Taylor, Benjamin Belt, Kori Walker, and Wendell Brown Jr., and special friend Ruby Cole along with a host of devoted nephews, nieces and "honorary daughters".
