Ronald (Ron) Thomas Alexander passed from this earth at his home on July 6, 2017 due to complications from diabetes, which he struggled with for most of his life. Ron was born on April 24, 1947 in Madisonville, KY. He was preceded in death by his life partner of 35 years, Mr. Sam Magee of Houston, TX; his parents, Fordney Thomas Alexander and Cordellia S. Alexander both of Beaver Dam, KY; and his nephew, Scott Alexander. Ron is survived by 3 brothers; Teddy Lynn Alexander (Angela) of Hartford, KY, Stephen Ed Alexander (Cathy) of Louisville, KY, and Larry Wayne Alexander (Karen) of Beaver Dam, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1969; he then went on to receive a master’s degree in Education from the University of Houston. Ron was a DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) career counselor and teacher at Sam Houston High School in Houston, TX for 25 years, where he helped many students. He retired in 1996 and stayed in Houston.
Ron was a good man and a supportive big brother; he is loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Ron was an example of strength and determination to all. He continued to persevere and never lost hope all of his life.
Ron will be cremated, as he wished, and a memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials in his honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
