Son of the late Joseph Martin & Frances Eleanor Frankiewicz, Ronald was born in Elyria, Ohio on September 13, 1942. Ronald attended Allen Elementary School, Ely Middle School, and Elyria High School; he was a superior scholar and excelled at a young age in his passions for science, math, physics, and fine arts. Furthering his education, Ronald successfully earned three degrees from Kent State University including a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, and a Master’s and Doctorate in Evaluation and Measurement. Concurrently, Ronald was the lead guitarist for The Coachmen who enjoyed playing a variety of music locally and nationally. During his remaining years at Kent State University, he met his wife Yvonne Joyce Gardner. After marriage, they moved to Houston, Texas, in July of 1970, where Ronald began teaching graduate level statistics at The University of Houston. He continued teaching with U of H for 43 years and earned the title of Professor Emeritus. Additionally, he was recognized with numerous awards and accolades for his accomplishments in Education including the Enron Distinguished Teacher Award and the Senior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award; his colleagues admired Ronald for his unwavering integrity and endless commitment to students. Furthermore, the students may have feared the rigor of his courses, but he was revered. Also, Ronald was professionally published and served as an expert witness for several law firms and independent consultants in the Southeast region. As Ronald & Yvonne’s family grew over the years, he enrolled his children in ice hockey; he volunteered and organized one of the largest youth ice hockey programs in the Southwest. For ten years Ronald was the Director of scheduling and the President.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Gardner Frankiewicz of Houston; two sons, Marek Todd (Becky) of Chicago, Illinois, and Specialist Erich Jozef (April), United States Army Ranger of Fife, Washington; four daughters, Daria Alyse (Augusto Carballido) of Austin, Alaïn-Mikael of Houston, and the twins, Kristen Linnea, Cassandra Nicolé of Houston; and three grandchildren Parker, Payton, and Piper. Also, surviving are two brothers, Joseph Martin, Jr. (Diane) of Vienna, Virginia, and Walter E. (Monica) of Marblehead, Ohio; and one sister, Victoria Jean (Ken) Peace of Fairlawn, Ohio.
Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved brother Larry Michael Frankiewicz, his Veteran father Joseph Martin Frankiewicz (Purple Heart recipient), United States Army, and his devout mother Frances Eleanor Frankiewicz.
