Ronald Jay Bush Sr., 77, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022. He was born on December 20, 1944 in El Campo, Texas to Elta Mae and John Bush. He was a very proud Veteran, having served 4 years of active duty, including 2 deployments to Vietnam with the MCB53 Seabees. He then served with the NMCB 28 Seabee Reserves for 22 years before retiring from his military career. He also retired from Sears & Roebuck where he worked for over 20 years and retired from the Texas Highway Department after several years of service.
Ron was a loving father to his three children, Shelly, Stephanie and BJ Bush. He raised his daughter Stephanie in Montgomery where he lived for over 20 years before moving to Sargent, Texas, where he was President of the local VFW Post 2412. He was married to Edna Minter in Sargent on September 10, 2011. They spent the next 11 years happily married and living in Spring, Texas, where he was a member of the VFW Post 10352. Ron was a loving father, husband, grandfather & friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Elta Mae and John Bush, 2 bothers Johnny and Donnie, a stepsister Audrey and his daughter, Shelly Bush. Ron is survived by his wife Edna Bush, Daughter Stephanie Bush, Son BJ Bush, Grandkids Veronica Clevenger, Taylor Clinkscales & husband Michael, Jeter Holtorf, Aubrie Bush and Emma Bush. Nieces De and wife Cinnamon Bush and Renae Bush. Stepchildren Dena Brick & husband Donald, Lauri Minter and Gary Minter, along with several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his friend Robert Meeler and his lifelong best friend Richard Petty.
A committal service for Ronald will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A Celebration of Ron’s Life/ Reception is to follow at 11am at VFW Post 10352, 16035 Waverly Dr. Houston, Texas 77032.
