Ronald “Ray” Burns, 59 of Houston, Texas succumb to his long battle with cancer. While this dreadful disease he battled for 16 years would eventually cause his physical abilities to betray him, it never once deterred his fighting spirit or his love for life. Ray grew up in a large Baptist family. He shared a deep pride and admiration for his family and where they came from. Having a very strong work ethic was more important than most things to him. A Texas boy through and through.
A life long handy man and distinguished HVAC specialist in the field for over 30 years, Ray was considered a jack of all trades. Always honest and willing to lend a hand, people could rely on Ray. This was something that made him very proud. In his late teens, he was an aspiring professional wrestler. His favorite wrestlers were Gino Hernandez and Wahoo McDaniel. He enjoyed spending time with family first and foremost and would be proudest being remembered as a grandfather. While he struggled at times with his ailments, his faith in God always kept him grounded and resilient until the end. He lived by the way of the Lord. A compassionate man who only wanted the best for anybody he shared time with.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Ann Burns, his daughter Rae-Ann and husband Cameron Long; step children Tareena and husband Raul Guerra, Joe Blanco Jr., Matthew Lewis, and Andrew Lewis; grandchildren, Harrison, Houston, Gabby, and Archie; His sister Martha(Bill) Covel; brothers: Bill (Susie) Burns, Doug (Cindy) Burns, and Kenny (Lynn) Burns; An honorable mention to his best buddy Rollo Ironside Burns and the rest of the loving family and friends he was especially grateful for.
