Ron received a Bachelor's Degree in History from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and then continued his education at the same institution, receiving his Masters Degree in Mathematics. He was a teacher and a Computer Systems Manager for many companies, high schools and colleges during his career. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1979 at New Mexico Military Institute and later received a Core Curriculum Teaching Award, in recognition of Teaching Excellence from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Ron was the true definition of the selfless husband and father, always putting the needs and goals of his family as top priority and fortifying them with praise and encouragement. He and his wife Dorcas always took pleasure in spending time with sons, Bobby and Brian, and their families. Ron played and coached tennis, loved hiking and biking with Dorcas, and in recent years, had become an excellent marksman. He and Dorcas were avid travelers who enjoyed their many trips, from Belize to British Columbia and from New Mexico to Prince Edward Island. He was also a self-taught carpenter and builder who never turned down a request for help. Ron loved learning throughout his life. Teaching was always his passion; in his time at the University of Texas at San Antonio, he realized his original goal of teaching mathematics on the university level. He was pleased to help and struggling student, and there were many he helped.
