He was married to Grace Rauch on July 9, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Houston by Pastor Harms. They had one son born to them, Ronald, on July 15, 1953.
Roland first came to Houston between Christmas and New Years of the years 1944 and 1945. At that time he started working at Roberts Parts & Machine Shop, he worked there for 24 years until the owner retired and closed the shop. He then went to work for Boyett’s Automotive Machine Shop, there he worked for 26 years once again until the owner retired and closed the shop. He then after working for 50 years retired.
Throughout his life he loved going dancing, playing dominos and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time and doing things with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace, his parents, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters. Roland is survived by his son Ronald, and numerous family and friends.
