Roger Vernon Johnson Sr.

Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Suzanne T. Johnson and two children, Roger Johnson Jr., of Houston, TX and Stephanie and son-in-law, David Leavell of Richardson, TX, four grandchildren Jacqueline & Josie Johnson and Nathan & Emily Leavell and his sister, JoAnne Mims. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Johnson, mother, Myrtle Mattison and sister, Shirley McClellan.

Roger was born on December 26, 1938 in Pitkin, LA. Graduated from Leesville High School in 1956, and Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA in 1962. After college he and Suzanne were married, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.

During his time in the Navy, Roger discovered his love for computers. Upon discharge of the Navy, he began his civilian career working at Tennessee Gas and ultimately retired from BJ Services in 1995. He was an active and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and served as the Grand Knight.

Prior to the Funeral Mass, a Rosary Prayer Service will be offered at 10:20 AM in the Narthex of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Father Sean Horrigan will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11 AM, with a reception to follow in the Community Center. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roger’s life. Burial to follow on Friday, October 13th, 9:45am at Houston National Cemetery.

Roger always said his family was his greatest treasure and loved telling “dad” jokes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
