Roberto Guzman, Sr. (aka Tio Bob; aka Bobby G.), age 62, passed away May 31, 2022 after a long health battle. Born on June 15, 1959 in Edinburg, TX, Bobby had an immense passion for music. He played the slide trombone for Eddie Olivarez Y Los Playboys and sang for local tejano bands in the Rio Grande Valley and Houston. He met the love of his life Graciela in 1975 and married five years later in 1980 before moving to Houston, TX. Shortly after they were blessed with two children, a momma’s boy (Robb) and a daddy’s girl (Clari). Bobby served 12 years in the Texas National Guard as a medical specialist, choosing to not re-enlist because he didn’t want miss any more time with his family. He worked as a machinist for many years until retiring early due to his disability. Bobby loved to have a microphone in his hand and was most well known for his Tio Bob dance and his chainsss! He never missed singing you a Jay Perez Happy Birthday or playing Santa Claus at Christmas, it brought him pure joy to perform! He had a love for sports, GO ASTROS, and his number one concern was always his doggies; Dora & Diego and his grand pup Jetta. There wasn’t anyone who didn’t like him… he was one of the most loving, generous, and selfless people you could ever know! His love and sensitivity transformed you; you knew you couldn’t leave without giving him a hug and good-bye kiss! Little did any of us know his last good-bye hug and kiss would be so soon, but we have to celebrate his life, carry on his memory in our actions, live in his honor, and know he is resting in peace.
Bobby is preceded in death by his mother, María Andrea Espinosa Guzman, father, Eduardo Carrasco Guzman, and brother Eduardo Guzman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Graciela Adame Guzman, son, Roberto Guzman, Jr. (Angie, Ivy, Riley), and daughter, Clarissa Guzman Bustillos (Enrique). Siblings Alejandra Palomares, Estella Woodward, and Palmira Kleinsteuber (Kevin). As well as Godchildren, Carlos Rivera, Gerardo Rivera, Ashley Guerra, Jair Gatica, Emily Gatica, Criselle Flores, Angel Martinez, and Yareni Nava. In addition to his immediate family, Bobby leaves a long list of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends to cherish his memory.
