He was raised in Houston and Leakey, Texas with his brothers Frank and John and best friend Gene Jennings. He met his wife, Doris Jane Chisum Walter and they married on May 4, 1963 at Leakey Methodist Church.
His friends and family knew him as Bob. He attended Schreiner Institute in Kerrville and the University of Houston.
Bob had a long career in the wholesale HVAC business. In the early 70’s, he and his family moved to Leakey, Texas where he owned the local feed and grocery store, Walter Mercantile, but Houston was in his blood and he moved the family back and began working for Johnson Supply again.
He loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He loved an adventure and traveling. He loved to garden and give away his vegetables to his friends and neighbors.
He was proud of his family. His three children, Karen Jane Walter, Robert Johnson Walter, Jr. and wife Shannon, and Steven Henry Walter. He also found a lot of joy spending time with his grandchildren, Matthew Le Blanc and wife, Jusbelys, Jessica Walter, Brittney Walter and Morgan Walter. He also has three great grand boys; Camron, Kyron and Cayden.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jane Chisum Walter, his father Frank John Walter, Sr., his mother Sigrid Josephine Johnson Walter, his brothers Frank Walter and John Walter and his niece Lisa Walter.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Two sister-in-laws Kay Walter and her children, Susan and Jody Walter, and Sylvia Meaux and husband Nick and children Julie Jenkins and Gary Stevenson Jr.
He was loved and respected by his many friends and family. We will all miss him dearly but are at peace knowing he now lives joyfully with God in Heaven and his pretty little red head, Doris.
