Robert Lee was educated in the Aldine Independent School District and graduated from G.W. Carver High School class of 1972. He was gifted artist and an awesome football player. He also attended Texas Southern University.
He grew up in Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Cage. To this union they were blessed with a daughter, Rosantra Denis Tillis. He later married Catherine Webb where he played an active role in raising Loneil Webb, Tierra Simpson, Arthur Simpson, Dorothy Simpson and Dominique Simpson-Harmon.
For many years Robert Lee worked for different machine shops. In 2014 he retired from Northwest Pipe as a machinist and lead man. Everybody worked with him knew that he took his job serious. He often trained new hires and they looked up to him.
Robert Lee loved his family. He was a devoted dad to his daughter and Poppie to his granddaughter. He always looked out for his loving mother. There wasn't anybody like Uncle B that is what his nieces and nephews called him. He loved to work with his hands and would fix anything that you bring him. Robert Lee was a fisherman at heart. He and his fishing buddies had lots of fun and interesting conversations. Also, he was a pit master at barbequing. He would barbeque finger-licking food for the church, family reunions, and family meals.
While on his sick bed Robert Lee confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior with Pastor Dayle Perry.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee Tillis, Sr. and wife, Patricia Cage Tillis.
He leaves to cherish him many memories: Daughter - Rosantra Chandler (Thornton), granddaughter Tricia Chandler, mother - Lorene Tillis, four sisters - Doris White (Amos), Linda Chatman, Angienette Harrison, and Sandra Bradford (Larry), one brother - Kenneth Tillis, Sr. (Sherilyn); Special son - Arthur Simpson (Dawn); God Daughter - Ashley Booker; uncles, aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
