He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He worked in this field for his entire life and was known and respected around the world. He mentored Bill Lam, Chuck Rouse, Tommy Whittington and Ansel Berber-Thayer, all were like sons to him.
He was predeceased by his parents: Robert Alvin Stonecipher and Agatha Helene Richard.
He is survived by his wife, Van Nguyen, daughter, Michelle Stonecipher Sweeney, son, Mark LaSalle Stonecipher, daughter, Scarlett Stonecipher Gillikin, step-son, Tuan Nguyen, granddaughter, Mandi Lee Sweeney, grandson, John Marvin Sweeney IV and sister, Judy Stonecipher Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later day.
