On May 15, 2021, Robert Roy (Bob) Murrell was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 75. Bob had a faith that prepared him for this day, a fact he made clear to his family and group of friends who love and cherish his memory. Bob was born to Charles and Mary Roseland Murrell on March 19, 1946 in Houston, Texas. He was the second of 8 children. Bob never tired of sharing himself with his family, loving all of them unconditionally. Bob’s life was marked by many profound “benchmarks.” He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Chemung. It was during his military service that he met Judy Sutliff who would later become his wife. Bob had always been a golf aficionado, ultimately serving as Club Pro at Pasa Tiempo Country Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. Bob and Judy returned to Houston, where Bob Murrell Tree Service was born. It was during this time that Bob began his pursuit as a fisherman. That pursuit very quickly became his passion, providing many years of pleasure, comraderie with new friends and the development of an extraordinary skill at fishing many places along the Texas Coast. May it never be said that Bob was unorganized. In everything he was meticulous, neat, many times being the common sense that the family needed in a particular situation. Bob never lost his zest for life, even as the years and his failing health entered the picture. He spent the last month of his life demonstrating his love for all his family and friends until he joined hands with the angels for the journey home.
Robert is survived by his siblings, Charles Randall Murrell (Carolyn), John Murrell, William Joseph Murrell (Diane), Paul Edward Murrell (Elizabeth), Mary Anne Murrell, Patrick Timothy Murrell (Roverta), and Catherine Clare Green (Jack); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his care givers, Emma Jean Carter and Margaret Montemayor.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 12-1 PM in the chapel of Heights Funeral Home, with the memorial service starting immediately after at 1 PM.
