Bob was born to Robert Meyers Sr. and Helen O’Neal in Port Arthur, Texas on June 20, 1941. He was the oldest of 10 children. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed on Bossier Atomic Air Base on Barksdale SAC base in Shreveport, La. Bob was a machinist at Hughes Tool Co. for 22 years and after his retirement he worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts for over 18 years. He also worked as a part time security officer for Smith Protection Service. He was a community volunteer and served on the board of directors of the Metro Houston Chapter of the March of Dimes, a scout leader in the Cub Scouts, a volunteer and board member of Worsham Elementary PTA, and was a Texas Life Member of the PTA. His last community service was as a volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul Society food pantry at St. Leo Catholic Church. In his spare time he loved to fish, read, watch old western or Star War movies and loved listening to all types of music especially the sax music of his friend Marty Maggio.
He married is wife, Mary Ann Crabtree, on March 2, 1963. To this union 3 children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two siblings. He is survived by his wife Mary of 54 years and 3 children, sons Robert W. (Brenda), James (Terry) and daughter Ginger, four grandsons, Justin (Megan), Michael, Chris and Marcel and great grandson Brantley. He is also survived by his brothers Charles, Ronald (Candy), Richard, Randal (Linda), sisters Jean, Joan (Scott) and Pamela (Darrell) and a beloved niece Lorinda (Steve) and two special nephews Joey and Kevin, numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He loved people and will be greatly missed by everyone. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be sent to the St. Vincent De Paul Society c/o St Leo Church, 2131 Lauder Rd. Houston, Texas, 77039 or monetary donations or nonperishable food items for St. Leo Church food pantry may be brought to his Life Celebration. An inurnment will take place Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
