Robert Pierre Legér— the Biggest Dallas Cowboy Fan, a friend to all — joined Our Lord Our Savior, on September 9th, 2021, at his home in Crosby, Texas, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He lived a full life for 55 years.
Born on January 7th, 1966 in Orange, Texas. Robert was known as Tiger, Tig, Big Sexy and many other nicknames given to him by the people closest to him. Robert was the biggest and loudest Dallas Cowboy Fan in all of Texas. He also loved his Houston Astros and continued to play Slow-Pitch, where all the umpires will miss his critiquing of their calls. He was happiest with a fish on his line, sitting in a deer blind, behind the wheel of his truck, car, or golf cart and really enjoyed anything outside or sports related! He enjoyed his many trips with family and friends to his favorite places such as Bandera, Texas and to Cabo San Lucas. Robert blessed almost every dance floor in Texas and the ladies will all surely miss him giving them a twirl! Robert will be most remembered for being a devoted Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandson and friend to so many. He was a Christian and loved the Lord.
Educated at North Shore High School where he lettered in football and baseball. He also played basketball for NSHS. He attended Blinn College and completed his education at San Jacinto College’s Technical School. He worked in the Greater Houston Area and Gulf Coast Area of the United States for 30 years. Many of those years as a Lead Electrician in Commercial Industry and the Oil & Gas Industry including Houston Light And Power. The last several years of his career, he worked for Turner Industries as a Lead Electrical Sr. Supervisor. Robert loved his job and the many people that he worked with throughout his career. Robert made sure there was never a dull moment at work and would face each day with joy in his heart.
He will be remembered for his humor, his creative nicknames, wildly entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic, his one of a kind smile, his contagious laugh and his willingness to be there at any time to help a neighbor, friend or family member in need. He was always the life of the party. He will also be widely missed for his love and arguments for the real football team of Texas — The Dallas Cowboys!
In his last year, when cancer robbed him of his strength and stamina, it also gave him a softness we treasured. During this time, he taught us patience and allowed us to show him a small measure of the service he had shown all of us.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his devoted and adoring son, Christopher C. Legér, his loving parents, John W. Hamm and Sheri S. Hamm, brothers; M. Shane and wife Alisha, Wesley and wife Lisa, sisters; Leisa, Carolyn and husband Robert; nieces, Farrin, Karlene, Cindy, Natalie; nephews; Austen, Curtis, Jack, Justin, Kadon, Mathew, Sam and Travis, Aunts and Uncles; Gina, Lottie, Nancy, Norma, Rhonda Kay, and Vince, Neal, Scott and many, many cousins.
He was preceded in death by Uncle Bill, Uncle Rick Sr., Aunt Susie Marie, Grandparents; Majorie S., Vernon S., Susie Dove, Stephen S., Pierre, Carla, Mimi and Hunt (Chucky); Great-Grandparents, A.C. Sr., Lottie Dove, Brother-in-law, Kase V., Robert L.L., Mr. & Mrs. Carlock, and James Michael.
The family wishes to thank M.D. Anderson Holcombe Drive, the Acute Center, M.D. Anderson Webster, Texas for the thoughtful and considerate care from the wonderful staff especially Dr. Rugio and Dr. K, the Pain Mgmt. Director, Reliant Hospice Care; Nurses Julian, Brook, and Ann, for their tender care.
