Robert Manh Le

Born with the given name Hung Manh Le on October 21, 1971 to Phillip Xuan Le and Kim Thi Le in Vung Tau, Vietnam, Rob was the second oldest of 4 children. His family immigrated to the US in 1975 after the fall of Saigon in the Vietnam War. After a tumultuous journey, they were welcomed in Amsterdam, Ohio. After 6 adventurous, but cold winters, they moved to sunny southern California before making their way to Texas. As a kid, Rob was always ultra-competitive, but always protected and rooted for the underdog both in sports and life.

In Texas, Rob excelled in school and athletics. He was one of the first Asian Americans to play basketball and football, starting on both junior and high school football teams, while making Honor Roll in the Gifted and Talented Program.

In 1990, Rob graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Aldine High School, earning scholarships to attend Texas A&M University. Initially studying Engineering, Rob later changed his major to Business, interning with several Fortune 1000 companies while achieving Dean’s Lists in multiple semesters. While in college, Rob would meet his future wife, Susan Chong.

Rob earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems with Honors in 1996. After graduation, he would get his first job as a Management Consultant at PriceWaterhouse Coopers LLP in Houston, TX. Rob would go on to enjoy a very successful consulting career, traveling extensively across the US, working with several Fortune 100 clients. He quickly ascended to principal consultant/project manager, establishing himself as a trusted expert within the industry.

While in Houston, Rob had a hand in creating what he would, in his later years, describe as his "greatest accomplishment” in life: his two children. Morgan Taylor was born in 2004, and Ethan William was born three (3) years later. Not long after welcoming his daughter Morgan into the world, Rob made a bold career move to quench his entrepreneur thirst, successfully opening five (5) Paciugo Italian Gelato franchises throughout the Houston metro area.

In 2011, Rob started his second stint in management consulting, quickly becoming a Practice Director for Birlasoft and later TSP (The Silicon Partners), successfully deploying several multi-million-dollar projects across the globe.

Rob was a true Renaissance man, as he was an Eagle Scout that enjoyed astronomy, chess, camping, philosophy, gambling, billiards, cars, sports, his Aggie Football, motorcycles, and using his mind and hands to build/fix anything. However, his true passions were art and music, and used them to express his emotions where his words could not. He was incredibly talented and could accomplish anything he put his mind to, including building a house from the ground up. Rob always enjoyed the opportunity to “stick it” to people that doubted him, which is why he enjoyed Vegas so much. He thrived on the chance to “pound it” and “cleaning out” Vegas.

Rob was a man of little words, but if you were lucky enough to get past his guarded walls, then you saw a loving, generous, courageous, and loyal person that truly loved to be around his family and friends. To know him was an honor and a privilege.

After his divorce, Rob struggled to find his inner peace, but in recent years, connected with his spirituality and God. He re-discovered his artistic expression and found happiness and peace, enjoying a simpler life with his children and family.

Rob was a beautiful person inside and out. His laughter was infectious, and he impacted each of our lives so much. He lived to the meaning of his Vietnamese name; Hung means Hero and Manh means Strong. He was our hero. He will be missed, but he will forever be in our hearts.

Rob is survived by his loving daughter Morgan Taylor Le, son Ethan William Le, and their mother Susan Talwar; father Phillip Xuan Le and mother Kim Thi Le; sister Cari Bickham (and her husband Greg Coleman and their son Comazell Bickham); brother Michael Le (and his wife Tina Funderburk and their children Hayden Michael Le and Ryan Elyse Le); and brother Joseph Le.

A visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home (3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068) on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 beginning at 5pm. A short Memorial Service to share and remember Rob’s life will begin at 6pm, with the vigil prayer and blessing to follow at 7pm.

The Mass will be held at St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church (7810 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379) on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 11am. The funeral burial will follow at 12:30pm at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.

A celebration of his life will be held at 823 Creek Wood Way, Houston, TX 77024. Family and friends are welcomed to come and share fond memories and stories over Rob’s favorite food and drink.
