Robert L. Kline passed away September 9, 2011 in Katy, Texas. He was born May 10, 1923 in Myerstown, Pennsylvania to L. Isaac Kline and Lucy Grimes Kline. He graduated from Myerstown High School in 1941 and served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. Following his discharge he began working as a Procurement officer at Olmstead AFB in Lebanon, PA where he worked for 20 years. He was selected to join NASA, moving to Houston, Texas in 1962. He worked on the Mercury, Apollo and Space Shuttle missions until he retired in 1979. Bob was a 32nd degree Master Mason, Scottish Rite and a Noble of the Arabia Shrine Temple. He was a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Association.
Bob was preceded in death by a stepson, David Charles Scallan. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Imogene L. “Jean” Kline, sister, Cora Teate; stepson, Michael Phillip “Mike” Scallan and his wife, Carol; Three Grandchildren; Two Great-Grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home with Entombment Services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Oaks Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
