

Robert Allen Immekus, a Vietnam Veteran and resident of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023 surrounded by family. Al, as he was known to his family and friends, was born May 24, 1944 to Francis Joseph Immekus and Dorothy Ellen Reynolds and attended Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Al served as a SSGT in the Air Force, he was stationed in Turkey, and had amazing stories of his time there and his tours in Vietnam. Al was extremely patriotic and proudly supported other veterans. Al enlisted on June 26, 1962 and received honorable discharge on January 27, 1970.
Al married his beloved wife, Emma Jo Krauskopf, on May 25, 1968. Together, they started their journey in Kirby, Texas. Their adventures took them to Irving, Texas; Wilmington, Delaware; Seguin, Texas and settled in Houston, Texas in 2001. Enjoyed co-ed activities like bowling, golfing and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He worked for many years with the DuPont Medical and Dade International before retiring in 1998. He then enjoyed working part time at Blaketree National Golf Club and Champions Golf Club.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and aunt and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Emma, daughter Beth (Andrew) Roberts of Houston, Texas and son Scott (Darlene) Immekus of Hallettsville, Texas, as well as four grandchildren, Stephen Roberts, Kara Immekus, Kayla Immekus and Kade Immekus. He is survived by his brother, Francis Immekus and sisters Chris Dozier and Betsy Russell, and numerous loved ones.
His family has organized a memorial service to honor Al’s life and military service, which will be held at the American Heritage Funeral Home on March 7, 2023. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by funeral service at 12:00 pm with burial service to follow at Houston National Cemetery.
