Robert Heath made his entrance into the world in the city of Oakland, California. Peggy and Price would name him Robert, but most people called him Bob; 1 person called him Pops, 1 called him Daddy, 6 called him grandpa, 6 called him Papa and 1 called him love of her life, partner and husband for 70 years. He was the big brother to Billy,Pat and Bonnie
When Bob was still a toddler, his family moved to the town of Mineral Wells, Texas. He would join the band at the high school and graduate as a proud Ram in 1942. Following graduation, Bob would attend Texas A&M University, but his college career would be interrupted when he enlisted in the US Army. After serving his country during WW II, he returned to Aggieland, graduating with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1948.
Bob moved to Houston to begin his career - - a career that included working at Associated Engineers Inc and Ingersoll Rand where he would retire as vice-president in 1981. But Bob would be talked out of retirement by Embry Engines and would work for them until he retired for good in 1987.
It was while he was in Houston, living at a boarding house that Bob had his life changed. Who would have thought a date with a beautiful young lady, a date that did not get off to the greatest start, would turn into a 70-year love story. But it did and on June 3, 1950, Bob and Shirley exchanged vows.
To say that Bob and Shirley traveled during his retirement years would be an understatement. Together, they enjoyed 40 cruises and traveled to 80 countries. Together, Bob and Shirley lived a life of adventure, with rarely a dull moment.
We will miss Bob’s sense of humor and will remember him whenever we eat a Milky Way bar and vegetables. But we find solace in knowing that he is at peace and reunited with the love of his life, Shirley, his grandson Corby and all those that had gone before.
A family graveside service will be held at 12 PM, Sunday, February 26 2023 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery. 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
Also, Bob’s life will be remembered on April 21, 2023 on the campus of Texas A&M at Aggie Muster.
