Robert Charles (Bob) Gunn, age 81, peacefully met his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 17, 2023. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Edith Mae Buchanan, and his parents, C.B. Gunn and Anna Lee (Honey) Murphy.
Bob was born on July 2, 1942. He graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School, attended Navarro Junior College, and then went on to play football at the University of Houston.
Bob proudly served in the United States Navy as a Cryptologic Technician and Petty Officer 3rd Class (CT3). He then went on to be an Allstate Agent for many years.
Bob was a member of Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City, where he served as an ordained deacon and was a faithful servant of many positions. His greatest joy was teaching God’s Word in Sunday School. Bob was a true man of God, a legacy of love, a wonderful husband, a precious Papaw, a man of integrity, and a genuine friend, who lived every day to the fullest. Family was everything to him and everyone was always welcome in his home.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Evangelina (Lena) Gunn, and their children. His son Gary Charles Gunn and wife Betsy, and daughters Theresa Renee Gunn and Denise Nicole Dutton; his son-in-law Paul Dutton and wife Lisa, and daughter-in-law Kris Chan. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren Tasha and Brian Pagan, Jerrett and Karlie Dutton, and Max and Mia Gunn. He is also survived by his sisters Belinda Childs and husband Al, Barbara Ann Gunn, and Debby Craft, and brothers Pat and Mike Murphy; along with many beloved family members and friends. The family sends a special thank you to his church family at Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City for their prayers and encouragement.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City.

A viewing for Robert will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 5:00-9:00 PM.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church of Jacinto City, 10501 Muscatine St, Houston, TX 77029. Reception to follow.
