Robert Anthony Garza, 66, entered in to peaceful, eternal rest on Friday October 23, 2015 with his beloved daughter Andrea by his side, after a lengthy, valiant fight against Diabetes. Robert was born on July 14, 1949 to Theodore Garza and Theresa “Gonzales” Garza. He attended Christ the King Catholic School and St. Thomas High School where he was a member of the Eagle Marching Band as a trumpet player and graduated in 1967. After attending the University of Houston, he worked for Foley’s, The Rice Hotel, Pennzoil and Harris County. He married Teresa “Northey” Garza on February 7, 1976 and on May 8, 1979 their daughter Andrea, the light, pride and joy of his life, was born.
Robert was also a coach, basketball referee and was awarded the “Distinguished Volunteer Award” with Special Olympics Texas, one of his passions. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved nature and hunting on the Gonzales family ranch. He also played fast pitched softball on many teams, including, “The Embarristers,” a team he played on with his brother, David. Robert’s boisterous laugh was infectious and joyful for all who heard it. Above all of Robert’s passions however, the unyielding pride and love he had for his family and friends is what defined him and what will be missed the most. His protective spirit will now watch over all those he loved so dearly with the same unwavering abandon.
