ROBERT EARL DAVIS SR. was the second oldest of seven siblings-born to Theodore Davis Jr. and Robbie Lee Stafford in Oakland, California on August 7, 1945. He was baptized at an early age and committed his life to Christ at Forest Lawn Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Bryant. He attended public schools in the Houston Independent School District and attended Kashmere High School where he excelled in many sports especially football, and was one of the co-captains on the team. An outstanding defensive end he received many honors and awards. Robert later attended Texas Southern University. He worked for many years at PPG Industries and in March of 1991 he became an employee of American Freightways (currently FedEx Freight). He worked there diligently for 16 years before retiring. On April 20, 1965 Robert was united in holy matrimony to Hazel J. Davis and to this union three children were born. Robert began his Christian journey at Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend T. J. Compton. He was a member of Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C. D. Daniels. November 6, 1993, Robert married Wanda Peavy Johnson; two children were a part of this union. He later joined Greater First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend W. E. Gibbs, where he remained a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor R. L. Thompson Sr. until his transition to glory. Robert was the epitome of a "family man" and had a love for his people like no other. He always took it upon himself to be everyone's caregiver and support in time of need. If you needed advice he drew from his mental wellspring. He certainly loved to cook and would never let anyone around him have an empty stomach. In fact, he would insist that you eat his good home cooked meals. There is no doubt that whenever he was around, everyone felt embraced by his presence. That feeling is one that will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of twenty years, Wanda Davis.
