On September 24, 1948, a baby boy was born to Ira and Nellie Mae Curtis. They named him Robert "Rodney" Dale Curtis. He attended elementary school in Kohrville and later attended Klein Senior High School. Rodney was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and deployed to Germany. In 1972, he received an Honorable discharge. After serving in the Army, Rodney began working at Yellow Freight as a truck driver. He later drove for Grocer Supply, where he received numerous driving awards. He continued driving 18 wheeler trucks until he retired from The Men's Warehouse Co., Inc. Rodney married Vera Johnson on September 6, 1976. They established a wonderful blended family, which consisted of four sons and two daughters. On Monday morning, January 28, 2013, Rodney awakened in the arms of his heavenly Father to forever be with his father Ira Curtis; sisters Rosie Curtis and Wanda Mae Jackson and brother Herbert Curtis. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Vera Curtis; mother Nellie Booker; children, two daughters Stephanie (Leon) and Trenika and four sons Robert Dale, Jr. (Illa), Dale Curtis (Jennifer), Shane (Robin) and Brandon (Shermeria); three sisters Brenda, Gwen and Cynthia; five brothers Otis (Mary), W. C. (Ann), O. D. Curtis, Wayne and Arthur (Jeanette); twenty grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends: "tree buddies, fishing buddies and Kohrville buddies."
