Rob was a proud native born Houstonian, the first born son of Robert Howland Burchfield and Ellen Rea Couzens.
Rob lived life with love and determination to enjoy every minute. His life was full of family and friends, challenges and success. At the age of 4 years old, he began playing the piano and he spent the rest of his life enjoying music. He sang as a soprano with The Apollo Boys Choir until, to his dismay, his voice changed. He performed throughout high school and college including a time as the pianist with The Bobby Doyle Trio and ended his professional career as a musician in Las Vegas.
After graduating from Rice University, he joined his mother, father and grandfather in the family real estate business. W. G. Burchfield & Bro was established in 1906 and is the oldest continuously operating commercial real estate firm in the city of Houston today.
Rob was a member of many organizations during his life. Too many to mention. He was always active in community and civic as well as political activities
In June of 1980, Rob and Dorothy Jarrett Nicholds were married. They put two families together and the family grew. Rob is survived by his wife Dorothy Jarrett Burchfield, brother Judson Burchfield, children Marni Rainey, Mandi Dorris, Penny Jankowiak and husband Rick, Wade Nicholds and wife Kelly, grandchildren Erica Brown and husband Thomas, Casey Mitchell,Sydney Weeks and husband Mat, Kylie Rodriquez and husband Justin, and Shelbi Rainey. Rob is also survived by the following great grandchildren: Riley Chandler, Reagan Brown, Blakely Mitchell, Hayze Weeks, Lane Mitchell and Channing Jones.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Rea Couzens Burchfield, daughter Angie Thompson and grandson James Hinson.
A memorial service for Robert will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 W. 34th St,, Houston, TX.
