Robert John Braun, a native Houstonian, was born at Herman Hospital in 1934 to Leo J. Braun, Sr. and Carrie McCarron Braun. He grew up in the Montrose area, attended St. Anne’s Catholic School, and graduated in the 1954 class from St. Thomas High School. He was a US Air Force veteran and his service ended prior to the Korean War.
Robert married Lucille Kainer in 1967 and to this union of 54 years was born Rachel Braun Miller (Chris) and Michael Braun.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille, his children, his grandchildren, Eric Miller, Matthew Miller, and Rebecca Miller, his brother, John Braun, and his sisters, Catherine Lamonte and Barbara Hartdegan. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents and his older brother, Leo J. Braun, Jr.
Robert worked in shipping and receiving and retired from Schlumberger Well Services.
He volunteered as a post-care minister at Memorial Hospital, Greater Heights and as a Minister to the Homebound at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Memorial Park. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2917 and of the Schlumberger Retirees Club.
Robert was a kind man who loved his family, his church, his country, his animals, and his country place in Weimar, TX. He also loved cars, his flip phone, and making rosaries to share with patients at Memorial Hospital, Greater Heights.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 21 at 10:00 am with a rosary at 10:30 am at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, Texas 77027. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa’s Church or School, St. Thomas High School, or a charity of your choice in Robert’s name.
