Robert Paul "Bob" Baldwin, Jr, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Hayti, Missouri on September 18, 1924, the son of Robert Paul Baldwin, Sr. and Irene Harris Baldwin.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Beth Baldwin Casey and husband Brian Casey, daughter-in-law Andi Baldwin and grandchildren Sean Casey, Clay Casey and Mae Baldwin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Irene Baldwin, wife of 56 years Evelyn Waller Baldwin, and sons Ronald Waller Baldwin and Carey Lee Baldwin.
Bob proudly served as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corps in WWII and as a reservist during the Korean War. He attended Southwestern at Memphis (Rhodes College), where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1948. He then earned a Masters of Economics at the University of Illinois in 1951. Upon graduation, he went to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber and numerous polyurethane manufacturing plants. As hobbies, he loved working with wood, camping with dear friends, teaching Sunday School and talking about airplanes.
Bob had the heart of servant. Upon retiring from a busy sales career, he went on to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank and The Society of St. Stephens. He also mentored at-risk children at Holbrook Elementary.
Finally, at the age of 83, he went out to nursing homes to read the newspaper to the "old people." Bob Baldwin was a man of God and had confidence that he was going to a much better place...by God's grace.
