Robbie Henderson Brown, daughter of the late Robert and Ellen Henderson, was born in Cameron, Texas on September 17, 1934. The Family moved to Amarillo, Texas when she was two. Robbie was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School and then attended Amarillo College School of Vocational Nursing. She worked as a LVN for 43 years, where she received several awards.
She joined Johnson Chapel AME Church, where she sang in the choir. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Leonard E. Johnson, who preceded her in death. She later married Rev. W. L Brown. Robbie has been an AME all of her adult life. She was very active in the Women’s Missionary Society, where she served on the local, area, conference and district level. She is a life member of the WMS. She is a member of Greater Ward AME Church served as trustee, class leader and Missionary President. Robbie is associated with Church Women United of Houston. The National Council of Negro Women, Elease Knight and the Elnita Mc Clain Women’s Center Inc.
She is survived by two daughters: Radeous Harper, Eunice Butler, both of Houston; Two granddaughters: Brandi (Ronald) Mason and Kennecia (Darrius) Thompson of Houston; one grandson: Kenneth Burrell (Quianetra )of Houston; one God Son: Adrian (Norma) Brown of Texakana; Two childhood Friends who are like sisters: Joyce Williams of Amarillo and Janet (John) Ragsdale of Houston;
Nieces: Dr. Rejeanne Sylvester of Lubbock, Jackie Simmons of Amarillo, and Inger Dawn Williams of Amarillo; Nephews: David Manning of Dodge City, Kansas,
Alexander Johns of Lubbock, Jerrold Johns of Lubbock, and Darrell Donaldson of Lubbock; Several Great Nieces and Nephews. Great-Granddaughters: Kennedi Thompson, Rylei Mason and Karrius Thompson; Great-Grandson Zachery Demerson (Big Man).
A visitation for Robbie will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater Ward AME, 6822 Arabella St, Houston, Texas 77091. The Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00am. Followed by the committal services at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 W. Montgomery Rd. (88).
