Rita attended Macarthur High School. She met Javier Sanchez at Poppa Burger and married May 12, 1997. Rita worked as a caregiver and had a passion for taking care of everyone and cooking delicious food.
She became pregnant at an early age which gifted her with Christina Garcia and then Mike Garcia. She was a widowed single mother struggling for years to provide for her children while also being a good daughter and sibling. When she met Javier Sanchez it was like all her prayers had been answered and she was finally united with the love of her life. After five years they prayed to be blessed with children and after many attempts were unlucky. It was then she decided they needed to go to the Basilica to pray to the virgin de Guadalupe. After this trip she became pregnant with Javier Sanchez Jr. and later with Carolina Sanchez.
In the course of the next 24 years she was given thirteen beautiful grandchildren. Nothing made Rita happier than being surrounded by all of her babies and her husband. Through every hardship anybody faced she was always there with a loving hand and heart. It didn't matter what background or family you had, if you needed help she was there. She was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in 1995 and had major back surgery in 1999. She came out of both fighting and ready for the next obstacle.
In 2015 she developed Lymphoma alongside her husband Javier. They did every step of the treatment together and she then beat cancer for the second time. There is nothing like the love Rita and Javier shared, it was such a beautiful thing to be able to witness. She often enjoyed vacations to Cancun, California, Eagle Pass, Milwaukee, Monterrey, and Zacatecas.
In her later years she struggled with many different health conditions but she did it with ease. She learned to enjoy her life, starting each day with a cup of coffee and a smile. She called her mother and loved ones every day to make sure everybody was okay. She loved going to sonic for her diet Dr Pepper and ended her night with a clean house, watching her tv shows and the news. She had a specific way of cleaning her house as well, if you didn’t do it her way you weren't doing it correctly. The day of course wasn't complete unless she had cooked a delicious meal for her family to eat. Her cooking was well known to be the best of the best. Everybody we know had different dishes they'd request from her and it ranged from cakes, to rice, to tamales. Food was a love language for her and she was the best person at showing love.
In the last few months of her life she grew very ill and was ready to be united with her father again in heaven. Javier was there for her every step of the way, taking her coffee each morning and spending long nights in hospital rooms. He never left her side and treated her like the queen she really is. As tough as it is to lose such a great woman she went to the holy land knowing her children would take care of each other. She will never be forgotten, she lives on in every child and grandchild, from looks to personality there's no doubt she lives on and is always with us.
