Richard Rodriguez Sr.

Richard Rodriguez, Sr., beloved husband of Rebecca, passed away September 20, 2011. A native Houstonian, Richard was born December 5, 1936. He was married to his High School sweetheart, Rebecca for more than 55 years. Richard was a fast pitch softball pitcher from 1960 to 1995 and was inducted into the Rusk Softball Athletic Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1999. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fortunato and Estanislada Rodriguez, sisters Margaret Rodriguez, Mary Luna and brother Ignacio Rodriguez. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Rebecca, five sons and one daughter, Richard (Linda), David (Maria), Bertha (Uwe), Marcus (Josie), Rene (Oskar) and Lee (Shelley). Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Beatrice Flores, and brothers Fortunato, Jr. and Joe B. Rodriguez, along with many wonderful relatives and friends. Richard will be forever remembered for his generous nature, his wonderful sense of humor and the love he shared with everyone he knew. It was rare to see him without his devoted wife. He was truly young at heart and had a twinkle in his eyes that will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends Friday, September 23, 2011, 5pm -9pm. A rosary will be recited at 7pm that evening. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2011, 11am at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home Main Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
