In his junior year in high school, Rich was acknowledged statewide in Illinois as a Lincoln Scholar in History. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, and received his master’s degree from Northwestern University, both in chemical engineering. After 30 years in the petrochemical industry, Rich retired from Lyondell Petrochemical Company, (formerly ARCO).
Rich was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church for nearly five decades. He was an AARP tax helper for 10 years, and volunteered with the Spring Shadows Civic Association.
He was a man of many stories. Sunday dinner with the family is what Rich cherished most; here he shared his love of history with his children.
His parents, Anna (Kaczmar) and Eugene Riccetti, preceded Rich in death. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley A. "Shirl" Riccetti; children, Mike, Gene and wife Cara, Richard and wife Chandra, Margaret and husband Wiley Bennett. Also surviving are grandsons, Luca Riccetti and Ilyushka Riccetti; sister, Patricia and husband William Adams; nephews, Scott and Mark Adams, as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm Friday, May 26, 2023, at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Rd. 77055. The Funeral Mass will be 10 am Saturday, May 27, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 10688 Shadow Wood, 77043.
