Richard David Gibson, born September 29, 1951 was retrieved by angels carrying him to Heaven the morning of Friday, June 3, 2011. Richard was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind his wife, Joy Gibson of Houston, TX who was by his side until the end; four married children, Son, Sgt. Jeffrey David Gibson, wife Melissa Gibson of Haslet, TX, Daughters, Christie Lynn Cousins, husband David Cousins of Tomball, TX; Karen Neumann of Deer Park, TX, and step-son Richard W. Cross, wife Patricia Cross of Angelton, TX, and 15 wonderful grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Donna Gibson Kelley, Husband Gary Kelley of Dallas, TX and a nephew whom he was very proud of, 2nd LT. USMC, Clint Kelley.
Richard graduated high school in Houston, TX and then went to Baylor to study music and ministry. He moved to Dallas and continued his studies at Dallas Baptist University while married to his first wife, Sherrie Gibson-Cousins.
He will missed by all who knew and loved him deeply and the many churches where he sang and worked with the youth from his high school years until he was too sick to continue. However, he regularly prayed for many who were on his heart.
Although we miss him greatly, it brings this family peace knowing he is now singing with the angels in Heaven, which has been his life-long dream and mission. He lived an honorable life and we all know how much he loved his His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He looked forward to seeing The Throne of God.
Richard was preceeded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Gibson, who adopted him when he was only 3 days old.
Richard Gibson's funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Waltrip Funeral Directors 1415 Campbell Rd Houston, TX 77055
