Here's to my grandpa. He served our country and fought in the Korean War. He was the sweetest man but also a jokester. Grandpa, you knew how to make the perfect fart sound. And thanks for always making me vampire teeth for Halloween. I will never forget how you scared the crap out of me with the crazy dummies you created out of your dental lab; now I realize the quirkiness of your artistry. Your beer of choice was Corona; now I drink it in your honor. You provided SO much for your children and their kids and their kids. Looking back at all these photos, I can only hope I live a life as loving and fulfilling as yours. Love you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cruz only once, but I still remember how kind and friendly he was. Theresa, I feel I knew him more through you. Your love for him showed, my friend. God be with you and your family always, especially throughout this difficult time.

I would like to share how my father, Richard Cruz, touched my life. First is for his love and commitment to family. He was also such a kind, sweet and very generous man and loved our mom and our family so much. He would give you or try his best to help anyone who was in need or in trouble. Daddy, I miss you so much right now. I miss seeing you getting up every morning to get your coffee, then the newspaper, sit down at the kitchen table and read the front page, saying to me "it's always the same ol' same ol' news everyday". I'll miss you reading me your horoscope and the obituary saying "let's see who died today I might know them!" I miss you saying "Okay okay okay" which was my cue to get your breakfast, lunch or dinner. I miss seeing you walking next door to the lab every morning even after you retired. I miss sitting outside with you on the front porch and talking about mom and our family and hearing you say "No more pickups, no more Dr. Cantu, no more Dr. Rex." I will miss hearing your war stories and hearing about Korea. I even miss you repeating or asking something said just two minutes before. I know I had to keep reminding you of how much you had accomplished and that you should be so proud of yourself as much as I was and still so proud of being your loving daughter. I will forever cherish all of the good times and great memories. I can't accept the fact that you're really gone. I hate that you can't speak to me anymore but I love the way your voice is in my memory from all the talks we had.  I hate that God took you so soon but knowing that you're at peace with no more pain or confusion gives me some peace. I miss you dearly Daddy and you will always remain in my heart forever until God takes us one by one linking us all together again. Love you Daddy!

I still can barely believe this is real.  Daddy, you taught me so much by your example; both you and mom.  You taught me about honor, integrity, courage, strength, pride, humility, loyalty, responsibility, selflessness, generosity.  Everything you did was for us, and what an amazing life you provided.  You took on the responsibility of providing for your family willingly; you embraced it.  You did good, daddy, really good.  I couldn't have asked for anything better.  You and mom gave us just about everything we wanted; how you spoiled us!  You owned your own business, nice big house with a huge yard and swimming pool, pool table, pinball machine, jukebox, travel trailer, boat, lake property, two week long vacations in Galveston, Mom didn't have to work, and so much more.  You seemed your happiest when all of us (and there's a lot of us) were there at the house.  I'm sure if there was a way you and Mom could have gotten Journey to come over for a pool party, you would have done it!  I'm so, so lucky and proud to have you and Mom as parents.  I will keep what you taught me and pass it on to my family.  Thank you for teaching me how to love, and love BIG!

I am grateful to have known you Richard, through out the years. And I am most grateful to have been part of your family. I have so many memories that are too many to count. I want to say thank you for including me, in many of the Cruz's adventures. You will be dearly miss.
