Dickie played with my Daddy (Dick Fagan) and my Uncle Ronnie and many, many other wonderful musicians like Don Rightmire, Jerry Cyree, Bob Everett, etc.  Dicke was on my Daddy's close friends before my Daddy died in 1978.  

Dickie was pretty torn up about my Daddy's death.  They were tight.  They played together for years, cut songs together and he hung out at our house since I was a kis.  He wrote, "Richard You Were a Real Good Friend of Mine" for my Daddy, Dick Fagan, after he died.  

I went and saw Dickie play a few times and I remember the last time I saw him, I didn't tell him I was coming and decided to surprise him.  While he was playing, he saw me in the audience.  I came up at break and we talked and reminisced a little.  

Even though I knew it was hard for him, I asked if he would play my Daddy's song for me, and he obliged.  It meant so much to me.

I tried to look him up to reconnect several years ago and heard he had already passed.  I was sad to hear this and sad we didn't get to reconnect.

To his family, my condolences.  I know how hard it is.  I have very fond memories of Dickie.

P.S. I remember when he did, "Go to Hell Ayatollah" and it came on the radio, but it said, "Dick Allen".  My Daddy explained it to me, but I never called him that.  I always called him, "Dickie".  He affected my life in a very good and positive way and I have wonderful memories.  Rest in Peace, Dickie.

I met Dickey in Sept.1959 at the start of HPD
Class 22. Dickey sat in the desk behind me and always kept us entertained with funny comments during class. My wife Sgt Lila Berner worked with him in Forgery/B&T

Dickie and I go way back. I have known and worked with Dickie since 1969 while we were Houston Police Officers at the Houston Department. Our most fun times together was in the 1970s when he, along with Tommy Grubbs, George Larue, Larry Moore and I, spent numerous hours and days together at  Bells Camp Marina in Trinity ,Texas. No one will ever know how much fun we all had while fishing and partying together on the Trinity River. Then we would all get togother and pick and grin while at Bells Camp.  Dickie was the best singer and guitar player that we ever knew.  He could have gone on to be in the country's spot light but he chose to be with his friends rather than becoming famous. That was the way Dickie was until his dying day. he cared more about people who were his family and friends the most. We all loved him so very much and know he will be singing for our lord.

Richard Blevins, Sr. aka Dick Allen will be missed by many friends, family and fans.  Dick Allen was a true friend, great singer/songwriter, and a very talented musician. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Anna and the Family.  Rest in peace, Dick Allen.
