Mrs. Rebecca Nickerson was born on July 2, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Mrs. Merlee & Clarence Jones Jr. The young family migrated to Houston, Texas in 1964 and settled in the Acres Home area. Her education included attending George Washington Carver High School. She later obtained her cosmetology license and went on to work for many years as a professional hair stylist until she found her true passion as a chef. Rebecca found pleasure in teaching her family how to make some of her most famous dishes. In 1983, she met the love of her life, Donald Nickerson and they have been inseparable since then. Later on in life she became a foster parent for over 10 years, where she nurtured over 50 children. She was blessed with one child, Lawonna Miller and two handsome grandsons, LeMardre and Jarvis Miller. She was introduced to the Lord early in life. Rebecca always looked forward in life and lived expectantly towards the future. Her most cherished desire was the contentment of her loved ones especially her grand-children. Rebecca loved to make people feel good about themselves and life in general. Her imagination was so grand that when she told a story you would remember it for years. With each recollection of her story laughter would come as you thought of her. Whenever she came around you knew a good laugh and full belly was sure to follow.
