Reagan was born to Charles E. Redman and Alice Cowart Redman on October 9, 1942, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1960. He attended SMU and University of Houston, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965. He also received a law degree from the University of Houston in 1971.
Reagan began working at NASA as a college COOP in 1962 and worked at Johnson Space Center for 57 years. He worked as a Test Director and later as Branch Chief of the Systems Test Branch conducting tests in the large thermal vacuum chambers for the Apollo Missions and Space Shuttle flights. Most recently, he was involved in conducting tests of the James Webb Space Telescope. At his retirement, Reagan said he had enjoyed every minute of his 57 year career. He was proud of his role in helping NASA make history in space exploration.
In addition to his own career, he was very supportive of his wife’s business. Reagan was a Partner & Officer in Darlene’s consulting business.
Reagan loved to sing, and at one time, he sang with the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop Chorus. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
Reagan was preceded in death by his father, Charles Redman, and his mother, Alice Redman. Reagan is survived by his wife, Darlene Walker Redman, his sister Malinda Redman, son, Chuck Redman (Denise), daughters, Cheryl McCleary (Paul) and Alicia Redman (Jay Villarreal), and grandchildren, Ryan Redman, Ben Redman, Sidney Primm, Mekenzie Primm, and Wylie Villarreal, and many other beloved family members and friends.
The family has requested a private entombment.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, at 12:30 p.m., in the Sanctuary at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, 77027, with reception to follow immediately after in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Katie Montgomery Mears will officiate. The service held in the Sanctuary will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person at https://stlukesmethodist.org/reagan-redman/
