Raymond John Polasek, 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Raymond was the first of eight children born to Joe and Libby Polasek, October 20, 1929. On October 23, he was cleansed by the waters of baptism and promised to Christ at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Tx. Later years after retirement he was an usher for many years at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Tx.
Raymond grew up on the family farm in Granger, Tx, and at the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Army to serve his country which he did for the next 4 years. After returning from the service he moved to Houston where he soon met the love of his life Vernadell Kocurek in the grocery store.
Proceeding Raymond in death were his parents Joe and Libby Polasek, sisters Mildred Vrana and Martha Palla, brothers Joe Polasek, Norbert Polasek and Marvin Polasek.
Raymond is survived by wife of 68 years, Vernadell, sister Maylee Machacek, brother Dominic Polasek and wife Barbara, sons Donald Polasek and wife Helen of Cypress, Kenneth and wife Tanya of Jersey Village and Roy Polasek of Houston.
Grandchildren Amy Albright and husband Stephen, Derek Polasek and wife Victoria, Dustin Polasek and Michelle Polasek.
Great grandchildren Caleb Albright, Carson Albright and Brynlee Polasek.
Raymond worked at American Can Company for 28 years as a millwright. Due to his strong work ethic, supervisors and even other departments would request him to work critical jobs for them. He loved farming, gardening & staying busy. Every summer he took his family to the bay in Palacio, Tx and would spend a week going fishing and floundering. Everyone that knew Raymond knew that he was always the first in line at events to get food. He loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren and even the grand dogs. He always had a treat for the dogs.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 and the Holy Rosary recital will start at 7 PM at Pat H. Foley & Company Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Directly following the funeral mass will be The Military Honors.
