Raymond was born on February 2, 1985 to Christine Martinez and Ricky Ortega at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas and was raised alongside 2 brothers. He attended De Chaumes Elementary School, Fonville Middle School, and Sam Houston High School where he participated in ROTC and Stepping.
Raymond is preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond E. Martinez, grandmother Rosalee Butcher, and his younger brother Richard “Woo” Martinez.
Left to cherish Raymond’s memories are his three sons: Raymond Edward Martinez Jr, Ryan James Martinez, and Rico Basilo Martinez; Wife, Estrella Lezo; Parents, Christine Martinez and Ricky Ortega; Siblings, Daniel Ray Ortega, Ricky Gomez, and Belinda Gomez; and a host of extended family and friends.
Raymond leaves behind a legacy of being witty and silly. He had a way with words that he could easily come up with off the top of his head. He would flow with the best of them at various Open Mic events. His words could make you laugh, could make you cry, and he would drop some philosophy on you because he was well read, intelligent, and eloquent. That is how he got his name “P-FLO”.
Raymond loved music and he loved cooking, which he was really good at. He loved to dance around the house being silly, but most of all, he loved his children. Raymond would always tell his family and friends “Man I Love My Kids.”
Raymond’s tattoos and struggles gave people a negative impression of him without them ever really knowing him as the real person he truly was. No matter how people judged him or treated him, he still showed them love and respect; that was the real Raymond.
Raymond will be missed dearly and never forgotten by his family. He will continue to live in our memories and in our hearts until the end of time. No more pain, no more rejection.
This is not goodbye, but a farewell until we meet again. Fly high and catch the highest cloud there is and live free. We’ll love you always and forever.
