SGT Martinez was my JROTC instructor at Clements in PG County. I used to skip class and even lunch to hang out in his class room with some of the other students. If he knew any of us hadn’t eaten or didn’t have lunch money, he’d offer us snacks which is probably why that became our hang out spot. Once he left Clements, I was unable to contact him or find him to check in, but I finally had the opportunity to see him March 13th of 2020. I had became a substitute teacher in my home town and had taken on a couple of days at Moore. I remember walking into the cafeteria during lunch and instantly felt like a kid again when I saw him. I was scared he didn’t remember me but his smile said different. I remember him saying how proud of all of us (his students) he was. I pray he knows how much that meant to me. SGT Martinez was the best teacher/instructor I ever had and I will never forget the lessons and values he instilled into his students. Continued prayers to the family and rest in paradise SGT Martinez.

He drove cross country with his kids in the back of the pick up and stayed with me and Lotte a few days, and then off to Texas.. this was ages ago.. I kept in touch with him on and off through the years.. but lost track of each other for a long time now.. I can remember his contagious laughter..
I’ve missed his company and friendship but he loved what he did.. This is terrible news, but I am grateful to know..  Godspeed drill sergeant.. the world is a lesser place without you brother.... 😔🥺

Amen !!!  Loud and proud  was his greeting  by phone or text never a hello.  With his enormous  infectous ear to ear smile. This man , like the man  "David" in the bible was " a man after God's own heart". He had a heart of compassion  for all who he came across.  Always attentive , never judging , always ready to hug you . If you cried he cried , if you laughed he laughed.  My little brother , I could go on and on about all the good because I I recall no bad about him.  I love you and I will always remember you. I can see you now doing what you loved doing here on earth , worshipping and praising our God. Until we meet again brother  I LOVE YOU.

SFC (Ret.) Martinez was one of my first mentors. He guided me through being a teenager and supported me as an adult. He helped mold the person I am today. My fondest memory with him is from PGHS JROTC summer camp. We had to repel down a very high tower and I was terrified of heights. As I started climbing up the stairs toward the tower, I went to "El Sarge" (as we loving called him) and told him I was too scared and I wanted to go back down. He said "Okay" and continued to walk me up the stairs and promptly took me to the front of the line and said "she's going next." Without his encouragement, I would have backed down.  SFC (Ret.) Martinez helped me to face my fears and challenged me as I grew. His support and guidance meant so much to me. He had a beautiful heart and soul and will be forever missed.

My sincere condolences to Raymond Martinez Family.  I don't remember Raymond, but I am friends of Larry, Rudy and Elena.   This is what I saw in his pics.    He loved God, he loved his Country, he loved his Family, he loved his Garden, he loved his Fishing and he loved his Work.  He was an honest, decent and great man.

I had the privilege of working with Mr Martinez at Walton and then at Moore.  I would like to send my deepest condolences to his family who he spoke very highly of.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  Im very sorry for your loss.

My uncle was such a caring and sweet person! I enjoyed him coming in town and sharing memories. Great laughs great vibes and true, genuine love! We will miss you uncle Raymond 

We first met Raymond on a camping trip he took to Pennsylvania with my brother. The two had married sisters. Although they were brothers-in-law, they were as close as true brothers could be.  So Raymond also became family to us. He was a kind and gentle man, always wearing a smile. We loved him dearly and will miss him.  Rest In Peace, dear Raymond.

I had the honor of working with Mr. Martinez at Walton Elementary and his wife Gisella at South Elementary.  He was a very kind, giving, and dedicated man.  He often helped me with students who struggled with behavioral difficulties.  He was devoted to serving Prince George in many capacities.  I am thankful for the opportunity to have known him.  God bless his wife, children, and family.  May they take comfort in wonderful memories of a great man. 

Brother Raymond you will always be in my heart. You were not only a member of our church but family. You will be missed by myself ,wesley ,Austen and Keanu. You were a loyal friend to my father and mother.  You are now at peace with no pain or suffering. I send my deepest condolences to your family. We love you and will never forget you.

My heartfelt sympathies to your family.  It was a very sad day to hear of Mr. Martinez's passing.  He has ALWAYS been to kind to me.    He was the only one who called me by my birth name. I can always remember his voice, "Good Morning Amparo", with his unforgettable accent.  Followed by his wonderful sense of humor.  He  was a hard worker.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to tell him so.  He was always so helpful to us (cafeteria monitors).  We missed him when  he transferred to  JEJ Moore Middle School. Now he will be missed forever.     THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR KINDNESS.   You will always be remembered.

Mr.  Martinez was always a kind face. I had the pleasure to work beside him at Walton Elementary. He was such a hard worker. I just recently saw him at JEJ Moore during Kaylynns recital and he remembered after 4 years all of my families names. Such a wonderful person. He will be missed and remembered by many.
