With great sadness, we announce the passing of Raul (Roy) G. Perez, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 83, at his residence in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Raul was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, son, brother, and uncle. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and close friends. Raul was born on March 27, 1939, to Cruz and Vicenta Perez in Weslaco, Texas. He married Raquel Treviño in 1959.
Raul is preceded in death by his loving parents Cruz and Vicenta Perez, three brothers Roman Perez, Rafael Perez, and Cruz Perez; five sisters Paulita Briones, Dina Cavazos, Rebecca Cavazos, Delia Lopez, and Clemencia Bautista.
Raul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Raquel Perez; son Dagoberto Perez, daughter Velma P. Zepeda, son-in-law Paul J. Zepeda, grandsons Paul C. Zepeda and Michael J. Zepeda; also survived by his sister Amelia Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raul enjoyed a fulfilled life with many hobbies including gardening, fishing, boating, Coushatta trips with Raquel, spending time in his workshop, and sharing citrus from the family farm. With his icebreaker “Hey Boss, what do you know?” he made friends anywhere he went and found pleasure in mentoring those that needed guidance. Most importantly, Raul enjoyed making cherished family memories with plenty of barbecues from his homemade barrel grill.
Raul by trade did anything that was hard work but rewarding. From supervising production lines at Texsun, to construction and heavy equipment transportation with Baxter where he shaped much of the Texas landscape. Raul built many schools, hospitals in the Houston Medical Center, Museums, and the family’s favorite Houston Zoo. He finished his working career as a Manager at Hendrick Grain Company.
He was called home and is now with The Great Architect.
