Raul Garcia

Raul served proudly in our U.S. military and was stationed in Germany and when he returned from service he met his future wife, Juanita, who he fell in love with at first sight. The couple married on July 15th, 1961 in Brownsville, TX and celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss and six children; Maria Isabel, Sotero, Martin, Raul Jr., Amelia, and Alicia.

Raul retired from the Maintenance Department at Spring Branch ISD after 24 years of service, bringing with him the floor waxer. Raul and Juanita were dedicated to their family and ensured their house was a safe haven for all, this includes extended family, bible study students, and sometimes people newly met, down on their luck and needing a warm hand. Raul was passionate about carpentry and built the cabinets in his home to the tables his family would share a meal at.

He was also a warm and humorous man that told stories of his wife being an Olympic swimmer and how he took daily trips to the moon to delight children. Many may not know but, Raul possessed a quiet and strong sense of faith and one could often find him in the pages of his bible. Raul Garcia is survived by his wife, Juanita Garcia and his children: Isabel Villagomez (Reyes), Sotero Garcia (Malinda Long), Martin, Raul Jr., Amelia Rodriguez, and Alicia Silva; grandchildren: Sandra, Cody, Tony, Jessica, Lauren, Lenae, Ashley, Jacob, and Alex; and 8 great grandchildren. Raul Garcia is also survived by his sister Carmen Mayorga.

A visitation for Raul will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
