Raul Cavazos

Raul was born to Jose and Fidela Cavazos, December 5, 1924, in Houston, TX.

He married Nydia Pantoja on September 12, 1949. Together they raised 8 children. Nydia preceded him in death on May 1, 1978.

He is survived by his children, Raul Cavazos (Isabel), Becky Montalbano (Sammy), Rosemary Bujano (Gil), Jody Cavazos (Josie), Elizabeth Cavazos, John Cavazos (Mia). He has 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons Robert Cavazos and Michael Cavazos, niece, Ashley Sondergaard and grandson John Martinez.

Raul was a World War II veteran and served in the Army for 5 1/2 years.

Raul handled Corporate Express Mail at the main US Post Office for over 25 years. After retiring from the Post Office, he served as a volunteer at the VA for 10 years.

He enjoyed dancing, playing pool, golfing, card games and dominos. He attended St Patrick’s Church and was with active with the Young at Heart Club and the Old Timers Club.

A visitation for Raul will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Patrick Catholic Church, St 4918 Cochran St, Houston, TX 77009. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
