Randa Lyn Bennett Dissing passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Randa was the beloved daughter of Tommy and Connie Bennett of Cypress, Texas. Randa was born January 7, 1972 at Spring Branch Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was a 1990 graduate of Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas, attended the University of Texas in Austin and received her undergraduate degree from The University of Houston. She later earned her graduate Degree from Houston Baptist University with a Masters in Hospital Administration. Randa was currently working at Baylor College of Medicine.
Randa is survived by her two children, Victoria Dissing and Kaitlin Dissing, her parents Tommy and Connie Bennett of Cypress, Texas, her sister and brother-in-law Linda Bennett Lee and Lloyd Alan Lee, of Brookshire, Texas, Aunt and Uncle Pam and Dennis Wilson of Temple, Texas, Aunt and Uncle Mary Ann and Joe Laird of Temple, Texas, Aunt and Uncle Vicky and Brian Owens, of Kentucky, Aunt Carolyn Alexander of Palestine, Texas and numerous cousins. Randa was preceded in death by her paternal Grandmother and Grandfather, Ernestine and Bennie Owens, paternal Grandfather Arvel Bennett, maternal grandmother Mary Shipp-Ley, maternal Grandfather William Reuben Wiese and paternal Uncle Randy Bennett.
Randa was a fun loving, and genuine friend to many, and was always able to see the goodness in everyone she met. She quickly won the hearts of those in her presence with her infectious laugh, and sweet natured spirit.
Randa never stepped away from a challenge. When she joined the Spring Branch Christian Church she learned there was not a program for children under 6 years. When she asked her pastor about this he gave her the green light and full authority to initiate, design, and staff a Mothers Day Out program for the church. Starting with 6 children, including her own Tori and Kaitlin, she grew this MDO program into a full scale not-for-profit pre-school at Crossbridge Christian Church with a Christian based curriculum which maxed out at approximately 125 children only because there was no more space in the church property for additional students. Randa was brilliant at finding the best and most loving teachers for her pre-school, including her wonderful friend and second-in-command Cyndi Quian.
Again, when she moved to Cypress Creek Lakes in 2007 when Tori started kindergarten, Randa saw the need, and started her own Brownie Troop. She was troop leader for Tori’s Brownie Troop until Tori graduated to Girl Scouts. She then moved her entire Brownie Troop up to a new Girl Scout Troop, and left her wonderfully organized Brownie Troop to a new Leader into which Kaitlin entered. And to further support her children and friends, she volunteered for several years at the Warner Elementary School Library.
Randa enjoyed working at Rockin’ TK Ranch, the stables she owned and managed, and built from the ground up. The Rockin’ TK Ranch actually started from the one horse she bought for Kaitlin. But Randa, unhappy with the quality of riding stables available to board Kaitlin’s horse, rose to her next challenge. Knowing little about horses, and convincing her parents of the worthiness of the investment, Randa searched for many months and found the perfect 31 acres north of 290 in Waller County to start her own horse boarding and riding stables which she named the Rockin’ TK Ranch in honor of her daughters Tori (T) and Kaitlin (K) and which grew to stable as many as 26 horses owned by other horse lovers.
She also had a great reputation as a creative and enthusiastic party planner. Randa’s parties, created for her own family and others, were imaginative and visually stunning. Who can forget the Alice in Wonderland birthday party for Kaitlin where you actually entered the party through a rabbit hole? Or the AMAZING haunted house she and her dad created out of her garage which literally scared some of the younger neighbor kids to run screaming for the exit. She never did anything half way and everyone loved to help her because she made everything so much fun!
However, Randa’s greatest reward in her life was watching her daughters grow into the beautiful young ladies they are today. Randa will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 30, 2017 at Earthman Funeral Home at 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 1:00pm at The Foundry Methodist Church, at 10203 Fry Road, Cypress, TX. A graveside service will immediately follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
