Ramon Carrillo (Ray) passed from this life on December 27, 2023. He was a devoted husband and father. In 2020, he moved to Katy, Texas where he worked as an irrigation specialist for Dignity Memorial services. Prior to his move to Texas, Ray had lived most of his life in Southern California, where he ran a gardening and landscaping business for nearly 30 years.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lupe Carrillo; his children, Ray Jr, Lisa, and Diana; his brother Carlos Carrillo; and his sisters Rose Ann Figueroa and Carmen Carrillo.
Ray was born in California on March 10, 1959, to Jose Carrillo and Eugenia Islas. He began his career working as a groundskeeper for Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park and Mortuary. On May 12, 1979, he married Lupe, his high school sweetheart. On March 30, 1980, he welcomed his first child Ray Jr. On February 20, 1985, and May 11, 1993, respectively, he welcomed his two beautiful daughters who were the most important part of his life.
Ray was a spiritual man and an active member at St. John Vianney’s Catholic Church. He had a passion for gardening and masonry work. He enjoyed weekend road trips with the family and loved the outdoors and hiking. He traveled to many national parks across the country that included his all-time favorite Yellowstone National Park. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, 5356 11th Street, Katy, Texas 77493.
