Ramiro P. Villarreal, Husband, Father, and Friend who has lived among us for 73 short years, passed into eternity on June 6, 2016 after a long and well fought battle with Leukemia at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas with family at his side.
Born on September 27, 1942 in Monterrey, N.L. Mexico to Roberto Villarreal and Maria Imelda Peña, Ramiro was the second of ten children. He lived his formative years in Monterrey and attended school, where he graduated as an Engineer of Industrial Machinery.
In his twenties, Ramiro worked in Monterrey before immigrating to California. In 1970, while home visiting Monterrey, he met the love of his life, Maria Rosalba Martinez Rodriguez, and two years later in 1972 they were married. The couple moved to Houston, Texas where Ramiro would spend the next 44 years of his life working and raising a family. He had three beautiful daughters and a son, Maria, Roxana, Rocio, and Ramiro.
Naturalized as an American citizen, his Mexican values and traditions remained strong throughout his life, taking his wife home to Monterrey each time to give birth. While his career often took him to far away to places like Venezuela and Africa, his heart remained at home. Ramiro loved his family and loved life. He loved to hunt and fish, spending countless hours on the islands of South Texas. He loved to tell stories about his adventures, once insisting he ran into a hyena while hunting deer. He stuck to that story until the end. He adored and was proud of his six grandchildren, Julian, Gabriel, Sebastian, Izabel, Isaiah, and Adan. Ramiro’s legacy is in the family he leaves behind who love and will miss him.
Ramiro is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Maria Rosalba Villarreal, four children, Maria Villarreal, Roxana Nichols, Rocio Niño, and Ramiro Villarreal, six grandchildren, Julian Alexander Niño, Gabriel Alexander Niño, Sebastian Mathew Nichols, Izabel Celeste Mares, Isaiah Dealejandro, Ramiro Adan Villarreal, and six siblings, Ricardo Villarreal, Rene Villarreal, Rosendo Villarreal, Regino Villarreal, Maria Imelda Villarreal, and Raul Villarreal.
